SistaWRITE is delighted to announce that we are sponsoring a fun, affordable,
and engaging writing workshop for writers of all genders, levels, and genres:
9am-4pm at:TheLRoom
Workshop Description: Jaki Shelton Green, Owner of SistaWrite, professional writer, creativity coach, 2014 NC Literary Hall of Fame Inductee, and Lenoir-Rhyne University Writer-in-Residence will facilitate a workshop that explores memory, story, and excavating the voice that lives there. We will infuse these inspirational words by Audre Lorde into our writing bones... " When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak."
There is always a story next to the story we tell or write. In this workshop, we will explore how to make those connections, experiment with how to make a home in and with language, and how to fill our writing with creative expression, tension, music, and power. We will engage in meaningful discussions that will help us to harness the fears that stifle our voices and learn techniques that grant the personal powerful permissions needed in order for us to step into our creativity and "own our voices." Bring writing materials, journals, etc.
**Workshop Fee: $100.00
